Erice is on the top of Mount Erice, located on the west coast of Sicily. It is about 750 m (0.5 miles) above the coast, and overlooks the coastal town of Trapani. It's older than recorded history and was always wealthy due to its ability to produce the worlds highest quality Salt, at a time when salt as worth it's weight in gold.

The San Fermin Festival is often called "Running with the Bulls". It was made popular when Ernest Hemingway visited and wrote about in his 1925 Novel "The Sun Also Rises".
Now it has grown to about 1,000,000 people visiting this festival every year.
